Dear 4th and 5th Graders and Parents,
Choir has always been near and dear to my heart. There are
not many better ways to spend your time than in making music with others who
love
it as much as you do, and singing is especially wonderful
because it is your own personal voice making the music. What a
great feeling! We will learn more about our voices and learn songs to perform
for our own concerts, assemblies and the community. We will have an evening performance on November 21st, a daytime
fieldtrip to the capitol on December 17th, and an evening
performance in May. We also usually perform at the Keizer
Iris Festival on the third Saturday of May.
We meet in the music room on Wednesday and Friday
mornings from 8:00 to 9:00. Choir will start on Wednesday, September
18th. Wait quietly outside
the front doors of the school for Ms. Albertson to let you in. Please arrive as
close to 8:00 as possible as there is no supervision of students before 8:00. (A
parent volunteer is needed to monitor the front porch area from 7:45 a.m.
-8:00 a.m.)
We need a few volunteer “choir parents”, besides
the porch monitor. This is such an important job which entails the supervision
of the younger siblings who come to choir with their older brothers and
sisters. The only way that some students can be in choir is if their younger
sibling is able to come along. Please email, call, or send a note if you are
willing and able to do this on a regular
basis. Usually we have multiple volunteers who set up a “job-sharing” schedule.
One of the volunteers usually acts as the scheduling “point person”. Please
contact me if you can help us out!
We will also need some parents to help out at our choir
party in June, and to chaperone on the State Capitol fieldtrip in December. I
will ask for these volunteers as the need arises.
There is no cost to join choir although I will ask that you purchase
a Gubser Choir T-shirt in October. (It is the same design every year, so if
you have one from the last two years you may use that one.) It will cost about
$10. I will send out order forms in
early October. Please do not send any
money yet. I do have some shirts to loan out if you are unable to purchase
one.
Students who are in orchestra or band may also be in choir. Ask
me for details on how to do this.
Please sign and return
the bottom portion of this letter to me, Ms. Albertson, by Monday, September
16th. I look forward to a sensational time of singing!!!
A copy of this letter will be up
on my Gubser Music Blog http://gubsermusic.blogspot.com/ or you can get there by going to Gubser’s
Website and clicking on teacher pages. Check out my blog for pictures of Gubser
music programs and events.
